The Dedirting Project is an extension of the Water Project which focused on dry soil removal at the field level and prior to washing. It's purpose was to evaluate existing dedirting systems on harvesters and at vegetable washing and packing facilities for their ability to remove soil from root vegetables.
Preliminary work was completed during the 2015 harvest season which led into the full project during the 2016 harvest and packing season. The results of the preliminary work was presented at the Muck Vegetable Grower Conference in 2016 and the full project results were presented during an HMGA Grower Workshop and are also available in the final report.
